I always make myself some pretty hefty to-do lists when it comes to making over a room, even if it's just a quick makeover. I always try to put more on my list than what I can usually tackle, not so I can make myself feel like a failure when I don't get it all done (because I usually never do when it comes to a dedicated timeline with a deadline), but so I can at least plan with everything in my scope. It's OK not to get it all done. I'm ok with it. Really. I can't put my life on hold right now to stamp a room complete and it's ok. But it's sure fun trying to get to that finish line. Eventually, we'll get there, right? Just give me a few years. ;)
Anyway, one of those things on my to-do list for the master bedroom that I didn't quite get to is getting something on the big wall above our dresser.
(I would have also loved to get those windows out of the corner too. They are replacements for various windows in the house that we are slowly working on swapping out.)
Like a lot of decor decisions I make, what's going to go up on this wall 100% depends on what I can find secondhand or on major discount. So, I have an idea but it's not totally concrete.
This past week I made a quick trip to some local thrift stores to see what I could find and *womp womp*, came up short. I thought I had hit the jackpot at one, finding a few of my favorite frames (this kind), but every. single. one. had a crack somewhere in the glass. I was so bummed. It wasn't what I had planned. I was envisioning a huge frame haul, some spray paint, and a fun project in my future. It'll happen, just not with this #letsroomtogether challenge.
However, it did make me want to Photoshop some frames up there just to see what it might look like. I'm no virtual design pro but with some basic knowledge and a good squint, you can just about imagine it. ;)
Idea #1 - A Collage
I've got some photos from our honeymoon (we did Tuscany, Italy on a budget!) I'd love to frame and hang and you know I'm always up for some good DIY artwork so I'd have plenty to make a gallery wall with. I'd just need to find enough thrifted frames so it would probably take a little extra hunting time.
Idea #2 - One Large Frame
Or maybe even just two side-by-side. There were two big, gold frames I came across at a thrift store a couple of years ago and they had to have been there for a year. Every time I went in and saw them, I racked my brain for a good place to hang them so that I could justify buying them...but every time I came up short. Then, of course, when we bought this house and I had umpteen walls to fill, they were gone. Anyway, two large or one extra large? I could go either way. Maybe I could even try my hand at painting one of the honeymoon photos into an over-sized frame?
Of course, I could spot something totally different from either of these options or we could feel the winds of change blow and completely rearrange our room by the time I get back to this wall. Either way, it's really fun to get to sort of see, thanks to Photoshop, what could be. :)
